WATERVILLE, Maine — A man with numerous warrants for his arrest was nabbed by police on Wednesday morning after a short pursuit.
Nathan Liberty, 36, is facing multiple drug charges after his capture, according to Waterville Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey.
Rumsey said Liberty’s arrest came after a two-month investigation into allegations that he was dealing crack cocaine and heroin from his Elm Street residence in Waterville.
Police had obtained information from a confidential informant who had purchased drugs from Liberty on three occasions over the last two months, Rumsey said.
When police showed up at his residence Wednesday morning, Liberty fled on a bicycle down Elm Street, onto Winter Street and Pleasant Street, where an officer stopped and arrested him.
Liberty is facing three counts of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, a Class A felony, Rumsey said. One of the warrants was for a previous burglary and theft charge, while the others were for unpaid fines and fees.
Liberty is being held at the Kennebec County Jail on $50,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 3.
