OLD TOWN, Maine — A woman with an active arrest warrant is facing an even bigger charge after police say they found cocaine in her vehicle.
Lisa Ouellette, 49, of Old Town was pulled over on Main Street on Oct. 8 when Old Town police Officer Josh Sloan learned she had an arrest warrant, according to Capt. Kyle Smart.
It was unclear what the warrant was for, according to Smart.
After Ouellette was placed in handcuffs, a search of her vehicle revealed marijuana, a marijuana pipe, a pill bottle containing cyclobenzaprine, a muscle-relaxing drug, and a plastic bag with a substance resembling cocaine, Smart said.
A test of the bag at the station confirmed officer’s suspicions, with the substance testing positive for cocaine, Smart said.
Ouellette was charged with possession of a Schedule Z drug and possession of a Schedule W drug, Smart said, brought to Penobscot County Jail, and later was released on bail.
Ouellette also claimed that she had a prescription for the muscle-relaxing drugs, according to Smart. A call to the Old Town Hannaford supermarket confirmed that she did, but its unclear whether the district attorney’s office will drop the misdemeanor charge of possession of a Schedule Z drug, the captain said.
The cocaine possession charge is a Class B felony that carries a maximum punishment of 10 years imprisonment.
