HARRISON, Maine — A man has been arrested in connection with a bank robbery in the town of Harrison, police said.

Moss McCole, a 35-year old homeless man from Portland, was nabbed in Harrison on Thursday evening, according to Capt. Don Goulet of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

A state trooper who was in Harrison was alerted to a robbery at Northeast Bank on Main Street shortly before 4 p.m., and by the time the officer got there, McCole was gone, according to Goulet.

McCole did not show or threaten to use a gun in the robbery, but he allegedly assaulted a customer who was not injured, Goulet explained. McCole did escape with an undisclosed amount of cash.

A description of the suspect and his getaway car provided by customers was pivotal in helping police catch McMole, according to Goulet.

McCole is facing a robbery charge and is being held at the Cumberland County Jail.
