DOVER-FOXCROFT – Rebecca “Becky” J. Engdahl, 78, beloved wife of the late Arthur Engdahl Jr., died Oct. 16, 2013, at Hibbard Nursing Home in Dover-Foxcroft. She was born May 23, 1935, in Dexter, the daughter of Edmund and Marion (French) Rowe.
She grew up on South Street in Dover-Foxcroft and in 1952, graduated with the first class to graduate from the new Foxcroft Academy. She played trumpet in the school band. Becky graduated from Colby College in 1956, lived in Massachusetts for many years, returning to Dover-Foxcroft in 1992.
Becky was a devoted wife and mother, participating with her children in Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She was a member of the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church, the Cosmopolitan Club, the Sebec Lake Association, and she had served on the Board of Trustees of Foxcroft Academy.
She is survived by two sons, Arthur “Chuck” Engdahl III of Bellingham, Mass., and John Engdahl and wife, Debbie, of Sutton, Mass.; a daughter. Elizabeth “Beth” Engdahl of Woodridge, Ill.; a brother-in-law, Roger Engdahl and wife, Carol, of Centerville, Mass.; and four grandchildren, Kristina Black of Woodridge, Ill., and Amanda, Patrick, and Shawn Engdahl, all of Sutton, Mass.
Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church, with the Rev. Chad Poland officiating. Burial will be in the family lot at Pine Grove Cemetery.
