BANGOR – Benjamin D. Payson, 28, died unexpectedly Oct. 16, 2013, at his home in Bangor. He was born July 29, 1985, in Bangor, the son of Vicki and Dennis Payson; brother to Justin and Nick; brother-in-law to Erika; uncle to Grady and Kyla; and father to, Smokestack, his beloved dog.
Ben was a one of a kind individual who truly lived by his own rules. Anyone who met Ben would absolutely remember him. Their first memory would be of his rugged good looks and charismatic smile. He was a person who took any opportunity he could to enjoy life. Ben was a man who could do anything he put his mind to, if he so choose. He was an amazing athlete who possessed superhuman strength as anyone who shook his hand could attest. Ben could mesmerize you with his stories filled with outrageous situations and unimaginable outcomes. Ben created memories wherever he went. Impulsive decisions guided his journey through life, which sometimes worked for the better and sometimes, for the worse. In many ways Ben was like a shooting star, unexpected, brilliant and beautiful. He came into our lives as quickly as he left and he will be missed intensely. May you finally be at peace, rest easy Ben we love you.
In addition to his immediate family, Ben is survived by his maternal grandparents, Shirley Dyer of Brewer and Richard and Judy Joaquin of Katy, Texas; his paternal grandparents, Burt and Fran Payson of Dedham and Ellen and Peter Spooner of Brewer; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
