VAN BUREN – Therese J. Ouellette, 85, died peacefully Oct. 19, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 22, 1928, in Edmundston, NB, Canada, a daughter of the late Joseph and Alice (Bouchard) Guimond.
In 1950, she married Claude Ouellette, and together they made their home in Van Buren where they raised their eight children. Therese was a devoted wife and mother who set aside her personal dreams until her family was raised. She attended Adult Education to obtain her high school diploma in 1982. She was a member of St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church and was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary No. 49. She worked at Borderview Nursing Home for many years before her retirement, and then returned as a volunteer.
She is survived by eight children, James Ouellette and his wife, Anne, of Enosburg, Vt., Rachel Page and her husband, Roger, of Monson, Ann-Marie Ouellette of Hebron, N.H., Mona Ouellette and her companion, Dan Beaulieu, of Van Buren, Carol Levasseur and her husband, Marc, of No. Smithfield, R.I., Peter Ouellette and his wife, Annette, of Old Town, Diane Chasse and her husband, Philip, of Lille, and Charles Ouellette and his wife, Velma, of Van Buren; three sisters, Cecile Carrier and her husband, Ronald, of Edmundston, NB, Rita Albert of Madawaska, and Regina Lavoie of Edmundston, NB; many grandchildren; two great -randchildren; and several nieces, and nephews. Besides her parents, Therese was predeceased by her husband of 30 years, Claude Ouellette; a sister, Martha; and her brothers, Nelson, and Marcel.
At Therese’s request, there will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
