FORT KENT — Josh Kurensky scored two goals and assisted on two others Wednesday as the University of Maine-Fort Kent cruised past UMaine-Presque Isle.

Kennard Brown and Jesse Shelton scored two goals apiece for the 15-2 Bengals, who have earned the No. 2 seed for the USCAA National Championships. The tournament will be played Oct. 30-Nov. 2 in Charleston, W.Va.

Ben Kluvers, Philippe Dionne and Neon Brown had the other goals for UMFK. Brown also had an assist and Matthew Dunn had two assists.

Daniel Blackwood, Frantzceau Germain, Justin Sootiens, Jamie Reid and Pierre-Olivier Lachance each had assists. Jamie Cleland and Alex Caballero shared the goalkeeping and weren’t required to make a save.

Caleb Bragg-Grady made 17 saves for 5-8-1 UMPI.

Thomas 3, UMF 0

At Farmington, Thomas College received first-half goals from Dakota Duplissie, Guled Gulden and Michael Hand en route to the North Atlantic Conference victory.

UMF fell to 1-5-1, 3-11-1 respectively.

Duplissie directed a Mikal Simmons pass past University of Maine-Farmington goalkeeper Derek Reilly from six yards out, Guled converted a Tre Ming cross and Hand capitalized on a nice feed from Kenny Cano.

Winston Trott made six saves for Thomas (8-6-1, 5-2 NAC) before Joakim Sternas came on and made one in the final 12 minutes.

Reilly finished with three saves for the Beavers (3-11-1, 1-5-1 NAC).

Field Hockey

St. Joseph’s 1, UMF 0

At Standish, Theresa Hendrix’s goal at the 21:50 mark of the first half enabled St. Joseph’s to edge the University of Maine-Farmington.

Carley Denis assisted on the goal and Emma Astbury made one save on five shots fpr the Monks (12-2, 6-2 NAC).

Curran Brierley made four saves on 11 shots for the Beavers (6-6, 5-3 NAC).

Women’s Soccer

UM-Machias 2, MMA 1

At Castine, Cayla Thomas and Emma LeGaillas scored first-half goals 10:52 apart and Jessica Bickford made 10 saves as the University of Maine-Machias improved to 15-3-1.

Kayla Angelico assisted on LeGaillas’ game-winner.

Victoria Cooper scored an unassisted goal with 4:41 left in regulation for 3-10-2 Maine Maritime Academy and Taylor O’Malley made four saves.
