SABATTUS, Maine — A Sabattus woman was killed early Thursday morning after a head-on collision on Route 9, according to police.

Tracy Richard, 38, of Sabattus was pronounced dead at the scene, Sabattus police Chief Anthony Ward said.

The accident was reported shortly after 5 a.m., according to Ward.

Felicia Hinkley, 28, of Sabattus was heading southbound in her 2002 Chevy SUV when her vehicle crossed the center line and struck a 2003 Oldsmobile driven by Richard, the police chief said.

Both cars were totaled in the accident, and Hinkley was treated for minor injuries.

Sabattus police and firefighters and Lisbon firefighters responded to the scene, Ward said. State police and Sabattus police are actively investigating the crash.

Ward said it’s too early in the investigation to determine whether speed or intoxicants were factors in the accident.
