SANFORD, Maine — Police are offering a $500 reward for any information leading to the arrest of a man who robbed a credit union at gunpoint on Saturday morning.

Sanford Detective Sgt. Matt Jones said police believe the robber fled through a small patch of woods to a getaway car at the Shaw’s supermarket parking lot after holding up the Ocean Federal Credit Union.

The suspect entered the bank, displayed a long-barreled silver revolver and demanded cash from two tellers, Jones said. He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The robber is a white male standing 5’8’’ tall and weighing 200 pounds. He has a salt and pepper mustache and a facial stubble, and was wearing jeans with a wallet chain, a gray or olive sweater, a black cap, black gloves and sunglasses. He is believed to be in his late 40s.

Anyone with tips on the suspect’s whereabouts can call Sanford police at 324-9170; use extension 4 to contact the criminal investigation division.
