VALLEY COTTAGE, N.Y. – Carole Goldsmith Freedman, 83, passed away Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at home with her family by her side following a long illness.
She is survived by her loving husband, William G. Freedman, with whom she had just celebrated 60 years of marriage. Carole was born June 11, 1930, in Bangor, the daughter of Frances and Harry Goldsmith. She grew up in Old Town and graduated from Bangor High School and Tobé-Coburn School of Fashion in New York City.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four adored children, Edward Philip Freedman and his wife, Sharon, of Framingham, Mass., Bette Andrews of Charlotte, N.C., Theodore Freedman of Valley Cottage, N.Y., and Evelyn Hickok and her husband, Patrick, of Rexford, N.Y. She leaves six cherished grandchildren who were the center of her universe, Francie Freedman, Jason Andrews, Teddy and Nicholas Freedman, and Alex and Natalia Hickok. She is also survived by several adored nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Harriet Goldsmith Hillson of Old Town and Glastonbury, Conn. The family wishes to thank United Hospice of Rockland for their compassionate care during her illness.
