BREWER – Clarence H. “Bud” Sawyer, husband of Brenda J. (Braisted) Sawyer, died Nov. 14, 2013, at his home with his family at his side. He was born July 12, 1946, in Bangor, the son of Bud and Edna (Degrasse) Sawyer.
Bud, as he was known, grew up went to school and worked in the Bangor /Brewer area. In the early 70s, he worked for Sherwin Williams Paint Store before embarking on a 40 years career in insurance. A career that began at Metropolitan Insurance on Broadway in Bangor and ended with 30 years at Insurance Shoppers, Inc. on Wilson Street in Brewer. Bud enjoyed many things like collecting guitars, several of which he would play alongside his friends. He enjoyed fantasy baseball where his Mudhens team and teammate Dave would go on to win many championships. He loved the Red Sox and watching them win three World Series. But most of all he loved being a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed his evening ritual with his wife whom he affectionately called “toots” by fixing her a tea and him a coffee and watching their favorite shows, like CSI and Criminal Minds. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play their sports, cheering them on during every play. They all knew that “Bumpy” was there.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 45years, Brenda (Braisted) Sawyer are two children, Michael Sawyer of Gorham, and Angela Sawyer of Brewer; his five grandchildren whom he affectionately referred to as his “rabbits,” Rachel, Emily, Isabella, Sophia, and Benjamin; and several in-laws and friends.
