BIDDEFORD, Maine — Police are seeking the person responsible for striking a nun in a hit-and-run accident Monday morning.
Sister Viola Lausier, 89, is recovering from her injuries at Maine Medical Center in Portland, according to Biddeford Deputy Chief JoAnne Fisk.
Fiske said the accident occurred just before 7 a.m. Monday on Elm Street.
Police have been unable to interview Lausier, who belongs to the Good Shepherd Sisters, Fisk said.
The incident remains under investigation,and police have yet to obtain a description of the vehicle involved or a suspect, Fisk said.
The deputy chief is hopeful police can find and identify the driver as quickly as possible.
