BANGOR and STONINGTON – Dora Nadine Hardy, 103, wife of the late Kenneth E. Hardy, died Nov. 18, 2013, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Feb. 16, 1910, in Monticello, the daughter of Albert and Maud (Ketchum) Briggs.
Dora graduated from the Ricker Classical Institute in Houlton and from the Gorham Normal School, and attended the Maine School of Commerce in Bangor. She was a member of the United Baptist Church of Ellsworth, a former member of the Bangor Garden Club and the Norumbega Club. Dora was a gracious lady and host. She will be remembered by many for the delicious meals shared in her Stonington home.
She is survived by one son, Carroll E. Hardy of Holden; five grandchildren, Brent Hardy of Dedham, David Hardy of New Jersey, Kimberly Sawyer of Bangor, Carmen Quinn of Manchester and Stephen Hardy of Oregon; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and good friend and caregiver for many years, Linda Cray of Brewer. In addition to her husband Kenneth, Dora was predeceased by her youngest son, Larry Hardy in 1992; and her son, Richard in 1997.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. with Pastor Robert Maddocks officiating.
