ORLAND – Dorothy C. Neider went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Nov. 19, 2013, at her home with her family by her side after an illness. She was born in Lancashire, England, on June 10, 1927.
Dorothy came to America with her parents Garnett and Eliza Curnow and had her first birthday in Akron, Ohio, where she grew up. Dorothy married Richard W. Neider in 1946. In 1957 they, along with their two little girls, Linda and Margie, moved to Maine and found the spot on Alamoosook Lake that was her ideal home and where she spent the remainder of her life. Dorothy loved her dogs, fishing, swimming, boating, bargain shopping, reading, playing cards with her wonderful friends and the beautiful home God gave her to live out her years.
She leaves behind her daughters, Linda Plourde and husband, Arthur, of Bucksport, and Marjorie Johnson of Indianapolis; and a sister, Joan Brooks of Oregon; grandsons, Mark and Keli, Luke and Jennifer Chiavelli, Aaron and Amy Plourde, Shiloh and Amy, Mishael, Malachi and Lucy and Isaac Johnson; granddaughters, Esther and Brandon Parks, Charissa Johnson, and Jacqueline Plourde, 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; her brother-in-law, Ed and Ruth Neider of Carrollton, Ohio; and loving nieces and nephews in Ohio and California. She was also thankful for her special dear friends and her church family. She was predeceased, along with her husband and parents by her beloved brother, Kenneth and Mary Curnow; her dear sister-in-law, Harriet Neider; Micah Johnson; and great-granddaughter, Maya Grace.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, Nov. 23, at Bucksport Bible Church, 16 Central St., Bucksport. Visiting hour from noon with services at 1 p.m. and reception following. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Orland.
