HOULTON – Irene Mooers Burton, 90, died Nov. 20, 2013, at a local hospital. She was born July 30, 1923, in Ludlow, the daughter of Ward and Mildred (Taylor) Mooers.
Irene was a member of the Houlton United Methodist Church.
Irene is survived by her two sons, Larry Burton and his wife, Nancy, of Hudson, N.H., and Alan Burton and his wife, Beverly, of Melbourne Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Ann Plamondon, Brent Burton and his wife, Jan, all of New Hampshire, Julie Scott and her husband, Mel, Kathi Arms, Mary Ann Bjorklund and her husband, Carl, David Burton and his wife, Darlene, and Alex Burton and his wife, Torrie, all of Florida; 13 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Oscar Burton in 1998; granddaughter, Alli Rebecca Burton; two brothers, Donald Mooers and William Mooers; and sister, Joyce Marie Mooers.
Friends may call noon until the time of the service held 1 p.m. Friday, at Houlton United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Patrice Hardy Goodwin officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
