STOCKTON SPRINGS, Maine — One man was taken to the hospital after a two-car accident Thursday morning on U.S. Route 1 in Stockton Springs, according to police.

The accident happened at about 9:15 a.m., when Arnold Snyder, 73, of Stockton Springs, went to turn left onto the major coastal thoroughfare from the Denslow Road and “failed to yield the right-of-way,” Chief Deputy Jeff Trafton said later that day.

Snyder’s 2006 Toyota passenger car was struck by a pickup truck driven by Michael Sealy, 46, of Bucksport. Both vehicles were damaged and had to be towed away from the scene, Trafton said.

Snyder was taken by ambulance to Waldo County General Hospital after suffering what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries, Trafton said.

No passengers were involved in the crash. Agencies including the sheriff’s office, Stockton Springs ambulance and fire departments responded to the scene.

He was treated at the hospital and released, according to staff.
