PITTSTON, Maine — A Pittston man is undergoing treatment Wednesday after a police standoff at his home on Tuesday night.
Daniel Williams, 19, is being treated for what Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland is calling self-inflicted injuries.
Troopers were sent to Williams’ residence after a minor accident involving his pickup truck, McCausland said.
When officers arrived, Williams refused to leave, which prompted a nine-hour standoff, the spokesman said. Negotiators made numerous attempts to contact Williams throughout the night, with no success.
Finally, at 11:30 p.m., Williams surrendered, and was transported to MaineGeneral Hospital. It is unclear whether he will be charged with any crime.
