ORLAND, Maine — A camp on the Old Boot Road was destroyed by fire on Thanksgiving morning.

The blaze broke out around 9:30 a.m., according to Orland Fire Chief Bob Conary.

When firefighters arrived, they encountered a fully involved fire, according to Conary.

The residence was in a remote location on Mason’s Mountain and could only be reached by 4×4 vehicles, Conary said. The blaze yielded a response from 30 firefighters from Bucksport and Orland, while Orrington and Penobscot covered those department’s stations.

A female occupant whose name was not disclosed sustained burns to her hands and was transported by Bucksport Ambulance to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Conary said.

The State Fire Marshal’s office listed the cause as undetermined. The camp was not insured.
