ORRINGTON – Henrietta A. Valley, 97, died Nov. 27, 2013, at her home. She was born June 30, 1916, in Mars Hill, the daughter of Elden and Elizabeth (Palmer) York.
Henrietta married her darling Lee on New Years Day, 1947. They lived in South Portland, traveled the world, wintered in Florida and eventually moved there. After Lee’s death, Henrietta continued to travel with family and friends and summered in Maine.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lee; brothers, Burton, Bernie, Carroll, and Harold York; and sister, Ida (York) Curtis.
Henrietta is survived by her nephew, Michael York and his wife, Rebecca, and great-nephew, Jaskson York with whom she lived with during her final years on Brewer Lake in Orrington. Other special nieces and nephews include, Elden, Winston, Gary, Eric, Walter, Charlene, Maxine, David, Harold, and Florence. David Valley, Paula, Garrison, Susan, Joanie, Scott, Phillip, Paul, Dwayne, Judy, Evie and Tammy, Carroll, Stanley, Ester, and Edith. A stepdaughter, Katherine, and a host of other nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Special cousin, Dwight Valley and friends from Lakeland, Fla., Mary Chelela, and Jerry Symalla.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 5-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments in the Family Reception Rooms of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer, immediately following the service.
