ELLSWORTH, Maine — Police say a granite bench from S.K. Whiting Park was broken into three pieces, and one of the pieces was then thrown onto Oak Street sometime on Friday night.

According to a post on the Ellsworth Police Department’s Facebook page, officials are asking the public to contact them at 667-2168 if they have any information about the incident. If callers would like to remain anonymous, they should call 669-6614.

S.K. Whiting Park is a relatively new addition to Ellsworth, having been completed in 2006. It is located at the corner of Oak and High streets, one of Ellsworth’s busiest intersections.
