PALMYRA – Greta F. Turner, 81, died Dec. 2, 2013, at a Pittsfield hospital following a short illness. She was born Aug. 9, 1932, in Levant, the daughter of Merton A. and Verna (Frost) Harris.
She was educated in Bangor schools. Greta was the wife of Clarence O. Turner Sr. who predeceased her on Aug 28, 1999. Greta worked on the production line at the Canning Co., Hartland, for several years. She then worked at Snow Flake Canning, Corinna, until the fire that ended the company. She enjoyed playing “Bingo,” using her computer, and doing crossword puzzles.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, Dennis and Sheila Turner of Palmyra, and Clarence and Judy Turner of Hartland; two daughters, Rhonda Graves and her friend, Richard Jordan, of Palmyra, and Dawn and her husband, Roger Burke, of Palmyra; three sisters, Beatrice and John Pompeli of Citrus Hill, Fla., Lois Harris of Caribou, and Carole and Till Cook of North Fort Myers, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Glennis Paris.
Graveside services will be conducted in the spring at Riverside Cemetery Newport. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High St., Newport.
