BANGOR, Maine — A man arrested on two outstanding warrants wound up with a felony charge when drugs were found on his possession after he was transported to jail.

Scott Demmons, 32, of Bangor had been arrested by Officer Jose Vidaurri on Friday night, according to Sgt. Cathy Rumsey.

The officer encountered Demmons while on routine patrol and arrested him upon learning of the warrants, Rumsey said. After Demmons was transported to Penobscot County Jail, staff there found a single dose of suboxone in his pocket, Rumsey said.

Demmons claimed he had a prescription for the drug but wasn’t able to prove it, so he was charged with possession of a Schedule W drug, a Class B felony.
