FRENCHVILLE AND FORT KENT – Hope “Ol’Mom” McBreairty, 82, died peacefully Dec. 10, 2013 surrounded by family. She was born Feb. 1, 1931, in Allagash, the daughter of Thomas H. and Grace (Taggett) Gardner.
Hope worked with her husband for over 40 years at McBreairty Service in Allagash and 35 years as the Allagash Town Clerk. Hope was a past member of the Eastern Star of Fort Kent. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, and crocheting. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Hope is survived by three daughters, Janice Gardner of Allagash, Myra and her husband, Ronnie Pelletier of Allagash, Sherry and her husband, Danny Newman of Port Saint Lucy, Fla.; five grandchildren, Shelly McBreairty and her companion, Jay Grott, Ronnie Pelletier Jr., Josi and her husband, Louie Pelletier, Heather and her husband, Dennis Roark, Stuart McBreairty; and one step-grandson, Earnie M. Gardner; six great-grandchildren, Emma, Lydia, Rebekah, Sarah, Arrabella and Mandolyn. She is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Rex and Vincent McBreairty, two sisters-in-law, Maggie McBreairty and Muriel Gardner. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Chester McBreairty in 1981; one daughter, Joan McBreairty, one son, Chester McBreairty Jr., one brother, Aldery Gardner, one son-in-law, Albert Gardner.
Friends may call 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Gary Gardner officiating. Spring burial will be held in the Allagash Municipal Cemetery. Those who wish, in lieu of flowers, may donate to a charity of choice in Hope McBreairty’s memory.
