CHERRYFIELD – Lawrence C. Willey, 83, passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at MCMH following long term illnesses and his battle with cancer. He was born on Aug. 27, 1930, to Lawrence C. Willey Sr. and Persis Morrison in Milbridge.
In the 1950s he served in the U.S. Army in Germany along side his brother, Alonzo Willey. Lawrence was an avid hunter in his early years. He loved the outdoors and anything to do with nature, especially watching the squirrels play out the window. He was a really big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He always looked forward to watching a game. He was a loving and caring father, an amazing grandfather, and he adored his great-grandchildren. He was very friendly to everyone. He will be loved and missed by many.
He is survived by his son, Eric Willey of Milbridge; daughters, Joan and Karen Willey of Cherryfield and Annette Willey of South Gouldsboro; brothers, Alonzo Willey of Cherryfield and James Willey of Massachusetts; sisters, Joann Tucker and husband, Lionelle, of Ellsworth and Jeannie Willey of Sullivan; grandchildren, Mary, Jeffrey, Nick, Chris, Kevin, Katie, Nena, Cassie, Alicia, Paige, and Courtney Willey, and Amanda Dunbar, and Precious and Logan Townsend; great-grandchildren, Mariah, CJ, Conner, Braydon, Cameron, Mekenna, Kaydence, Tristan, Shaylee, Kylie, Payton, Khloe, Tanner, Niomi, Lillianna, and Maddison. He was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence C Willey Sr. and Persis Morrison; wife, Patricia A. Kilton-Willey; and great-granddaughter, Morgan E. Dunbar.
The family of Lawrence would like to give special thanks to Jeff Willey; nephews, Shawn Lamoureux, Mark Lamoureux and wife, Dawn, Kevin Townsend and so many more. Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at American Legion Hall, Main Street, Cherryfield. Services provided by Bragdon Kelley Funeral Homes.
