BAILEYVILLE – Ernest A. “Bill” White, 73, passed away Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at Calais Regional Hospital with his family by his side. Bill was born Sept. 3, 1940, in Baileyville, son of the late Ernest and Helen (Hall) White.
He attended Woodland High School and went directly to work for St. Croix Paper Company, retiring from Domtar after 47 years of service. On April 23, 1962, he married Juanita “Nita” O’Brien in Baileyville. Bill was a Communicant of St. James the Greater Roman Catholic Church in Baileyville where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was a member of Local 27 United Steel Workers Union, Quarter Century Club at Domtar, and GMC Motorhome International RV Club. Bill loved to fly his Ultralight experimental airplane, R/C airplanes, playing the saxophone, dancing, and motorhome traveling.
Surviving are his loving wife, Nita White; three children, Robert White and his wife, April, of Mebane, N.C., Timothy White and his wife, Michelle, of Greensboro, N.C., and Krista Pressley and husband, Joseph, of Baileyville; five grandchildren, Taylor Hayward of Portland, Haley and Drew Hayward of Baileyville, Isabelle White of Mebane, N.C., and Ethan White of Greensboro, N.C.; two sisters, Joan Greenlaw of Brewer, and Patricia Hanson and husband, Alvin, of Baileyville; two sisters-in-law, Diane O’Brien of Richmond, BC, and Thora O’Brien of St. Stephen, NB; two brothers-in-law, Gerald O’Brien and wife, Grace, of Saint John, NB, and Donald O’Brien and wife, Yvonne, of St. Stephen, NB; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday Dec. 20, by Father Rob Lupo, at St. James the Greater Roman Catholic Church, Baileyville. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery.
