INDIAN TOWNSHIP – Mary Loretta Jillson, 84, passed away Friday, Dec. 20, 2013 at her home in Indian Township. Mary was born in Pleasant Point, Nov. 29, 1929, daughter of the late David and Loretta (Francis) Sopiel.
She attended school in Pleasant Point and then moved to Connecticut where she worked as a hostess. Eventually Mary returned home and raised her three children. She was a communicant of St. Ann’s R.C. Church at Peter Dana Point and St. Ann’s R.C. Church at Pleasant Point, at one time serving as a Eucharistic Minister for both parishes.
In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by all her siblings. Surviving are her three children, Betty Ann Tackling of St. Martinique, Carribean, Carl Jillson Sr. and wife, Beverly of Bangor, and David Jellson and wife, Celia
of Colorado; 12 grandchildren, Stephen Tackling, Natalie Tackling, Desiree Lola, Carl Jillson Jr., Zackary Jillson, Tiffany Jillson, Isaac Jillson, Samantha Socabasin, Amber Jillson, Jordan Jellson, and Ashley Jellson; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held beginning 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, at Mary’s home, 30 Wolf Ave., Indian Township, until 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Rob Lupo 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at St. Ann R.C. Church, Peter Dana Point. Burial will follow in the Tribal Cemetery.
