HOLDEN – Mary E. Adams, 86, wife of the late William C. Adams, Sr., died Friday, Dec. 20, 2013 at a Bangor hospital after a brief illness. She was born Apr. 25, 1927 in Troy, the daughter of Bernard Small and Ila (Clark) Small Philbrick.
Mary attended Bangor schools and worked as a nurse at EMMC in labor and delivery for several years. She was self employed as an interior decorator and was an accomplished seamstress. Mary enjoyed the time she spent traveling to Florida with her husband in retirement.
Surviving are three children, Daniel Adams of New London, CT, James Adams of Holden and Donna Perrow of Holden; 8 grandchildren including a special granddaughter with whom she was very close, Noel Perrow of Bangor; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Frederick Philbrick and his wife, Judith of New York and Stephen Philbrick and his wife, Susan of Veazie; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be remembered by a dear friend, Betty Radcliffe of Florida. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, a son, William C. Adams, Jr., an infant grandson, Michael Adams, two brothers, Linwood and Lee Small, by an aunt and uncle, James and Gladys Clark and by a longtime friend, Maxine Fitz. Mary’s family gratefully thanks the staff of Vascular Care of Maine including Dr. Larry Flanagan and Dr. Joseph hart for their excellent care.
A service honoring Mary’s life will be held Noon on Saturday, Dec. 28, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer, where family and friends may visit from 10 a.m. until the service begins.
