EDDINGTON – Avis Pearl (Giggie) Currier of Eddington passed away with her family by her side on December, 23, 2013, at a Bangor hospital of heart complications.
She was born in California Settlement, New Brunswick, Canada, April 28, 1929, the daughter Bernice and Theodore Giggie.
She grew up in Patten and Monroe, Maine. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, E. Ralph Currier Jr. of Eddington; son, Brian and wife, Joyce Currier, of Eddington; daughter, Jody and husband, Jim Smith, of Brewer; her beloved granddaughter, Hannah Smith; her brother, Edwin Giggie of Madison; sisters, Mary Lou Nealley and Neva Moody and husband, Dale, all of Monroe; brother in-law, Clyde Epperson of Gardiner; sister in-law, Marie Giggie of Monroe; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Theodore Giggie; sisters, Phyllis Dickey and Ruth Epperson; her first husband, Franklin Hebert; and son, Franklin Hebert Jr., USAF.
Avis and Ralph enjoyed their summer camp on Swan Lake and their winter home in Zephyrhills, Fl.
Avis owned and operated her own beauty salon in Brewer for many years. She was an accomplished seamstress and worked for Rideout’s Upholstery for many years and had recently finished a project for the pediatric unit at EMMC. She made beautiful quilts and enjoyed knitting for hospitals and family who looked forward to their new mittens each winter. Her love for making handcrafts extended to everything except gardening.
