BANGOR, Maine — An officer who spent a quarter-century on Bangor’s police force has announced his retirement.
Chris Stevens, who patrolled the streets of Bangor for 25 years and spent 35 years in law enforcement, officially retired last week, Bangor police Sgt. Cathy Rumsey said Monday.
Stevens began his law enforcement career as a military police officer in the U.S. Army from 1978-81, while moving on to Bar Harbor in 1982, where he served before joining Bangor’s department in 1988.
Stevens’ resume in Bangor included working as one of the department’s DARE officers and as a Special Response Team member.
Stevens was also a school resource officer and spent the last seven years of his career with Bangor PD’s airport division, patrolling Bangor International Airport.
