CHARLOTTETOWN, PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND, CANADA – Aletha Runtz passed away Dec. 21, 2013, at Beachgrove Care Home in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
She was predeceased by her husband, Vic Runtz (former editorial cartoonist of the Bangor Daily News). She is survived by her brothers, Fred Saunders of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and Irving Saunders of Pointe-Claire, Quebec; two sons, Ralph and Gretchen of Fredericton, New Brunswick, and Everett and Ann of Long Sault, Ontario; four grandchildren, Chris of Waasis, New Brunswick, Daphne of Vancouver, British Columbia, Aaron Fredericton, New Brunswick, Naomi of Truro, Nova Scotia; six great-grandchildren, Anthony Rogers of Barre, Vt., Isaiah and Michaela of Truro Nova Scotia, Jacob and Malcom of Waasis, New Brunswick, Everett of Vancouver, British Columbia.
While living in Bangor from 1958-1983, she was an active member of Columbia Street Baptist Church and developed a large group of friends and enjoyed many activities at the church, she was also a member of the Gideons Ladies Auxillary. After leaving Maine both she and Vic retired to Prince Edward Island to enjoy their life to the end.
