KITTERY – Larry Eugene Maddocks, 76, of Kittery, died on December 28, 2013 at his home surrounded by loved ones. Born in Brooks, March 9, 1937, he was a son of Everett E. and Eleanor Mae (Carleton) Maddocks.
Larry attended local schools in Searsport, Maine and graduated from Searsport High school in 1955. Larry and his loving wife of 56 years, Jean L. (Hill) Maddocks, were married in Searsport and made Kittery their home when Larry relocated to work at the former Craftwood Company, known for its wooden salad bowls. He then began a career for decades in the home heating field, working first for Boulters Heating and Navy Yard Oil in Kittery, then for more than 26 years with Davis Oil Service in Eliot. He and Jean often enjoyed their restored red 1954 Ford truck, attending many car shows with the Maine Obsolete Auto League (MOAL) and the Twin State Cruisers, as well as local Christmas parades. They were parishioners of the South Eliot Advent Christian Church.
Larry is survived by his loving family; his wife, Jean of Kittery; children; Timothy Russell and his wife, LeeAnn of Woodbridge, Virginia; Patricia (Maddocks) Hanley and her husband, Frosty, of Houston, Texas; Ronald Klein and his wife, Donna, of Island Lake, Illinois; Jodi (Maddocks) Latham and her husband, David, of Remington, Virginia; Michael Maddocks and his wife, Krysten Godfrey Maddocks of Dover, New Hampshire; and eight grandchildren; Jennilee, Brian, Emily, Justicia, Jonathon, Rochelle, Zachary, and Christopher; as well as three great-grandchildren: Jade, Autumn, and Noah. He is also survived by his sisters; Patricia Pease of Lincolnville, Pamela and Jane Knowlton of Searsport, and Judy D’Alessandro of Sebring, FL; and brothers; Everett of Winterport, Herbert F. of Stockton Springs, and Gary Maddocks of Stockton Springs, and George (Butch) D’Alessandro of Pensacola, FL.
A memorial service for Larry will be celebrated 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 at the JS Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road, Kittery. Family flowers only, donations may be made in his memory to Footprints Food Pantry, Post Office Box # 246, Kittery, ME 03904. Interment will be in the summer at the family’s convenience at Orchard Grove Cemetery, Kittery.
