FORT KENT AND EAGLE LAKE – Lester Albert, 89, died peacefully with family by his side, December 30, 2013 at a Fort Kent Health Care Facility. He was born June 8, 1924 in Winterville, the son of Solamon and Leda (Soucie) Albert.
Lester worked as a janitor for Eagle Lake Elementary School and as a logger (in the hot pond) for Pinkham Lumber, Inc. He was an avid outdoors man, enjoyed fishing and just being in the woods.
He is survived by his son, Gordon Albert of Kissimmee, Fl., two daughters; Barbara Gagnon of Sanford, Bernadette and her husband Daniel Paradis, of Fort Kent; one sister, Jeanette Goslin of Eagle Lake, one brother, Gilman Albert of South Galastinburg, Ct. He is also survived by four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by one granddaughter, Cheryl Albert in 2012; one brother, Wallace Albert, two sisters, Pauline Ducas and Geneva Gallant.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, January 2 and Friday 10 a.m. at the Daigle Funeral Home in Fort Kent until time of departure for Eagle Lake. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 12 noon Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Eagle Lake. Spring Burial will be held in the parish cemetery May 15, 2014. In lieu of flowers those who wish in Lester’s memory may donate to PAWS Animal Welfare Society Inc., PO Box 94, Fort Kent Mills, Me. 04774. Envelopes are available at the Funeral Home.
