BANGOR, Maine — Husson University scored 53 second-half points Tuesday night, surging to an 82-74 men’s basketball victory over Colby College of Waterville.

Aaron Willis sparked Husson (10-0) with 21 points, while Trevon Butler contributed 13 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Phil Leighton tallied 12 points for the Eagles, who trailed 32-29 at halftime.

Luke Westman netted 19 points for the 5-4 Mules. Sam Wilson provided 14 points and nine rebounds, Patrick Stewart contributed 13 points and six rebounds and Chris Hudnut added 10 points, nine rebounds and five assists.

UMF 82, Thomas 67

At Waterville, Ben Johnson’s 25-point, 14-rebound effort sparked the Beavers to an 82-67 North Atlantic Conference win over the Terriers.

Andrew Dickey also posted a double-double for the University of Maine-Farmington (5-5, 3-1 NAC) with 21 points and 15 rebounds. Garrett Clemmer contributed 10 points and Pet Sumner added eight.

Eric Westbrooks led a balanced attack for Thomas College (2-7, 2-2 NAC) with 18 points. Garen Manzo and Levi Barnes tossed in 15 points each and Adam Carlsen chipped in with 11 points.

Bowdoin 64, Bridgewater 59

At Brunswick,, Matt Mathias headed a list of four double-figure scorers with 13 points and provided four assists as the Polar Bears beat the Bears.

Grant White and Andrew Madlinger (8 rebounds) netted 12 points each for Bowdoin College (10-0), and Keegan Pieri tallied 11 points and eight rebounds.

Michael Lofton scored a game-best 14 points to lead Bridgewater State (5-7). Barrett Murphy and Brendan Monteiro scored 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Women’s Basketball

USM 74, Husson 47

At Newman Gym in Bangor, Erin McNamara poured in a game-high 29 points, hitting five 3-pointers, and handed out five assists as the Huskies handed the Eagles.

Gretchen Anderson scored 14 points for the University of Southern Maine of Gorham (7-5), which made nine 3-pointers and shot 48 percent overall.

Rebecca Young paced Husson University (3-6) with 10 points and Samira Cruz added eight points.

UMF 81, Thomas 46

At Waterville, Lindsay Ranquist pumped in a game-high 22 points and she also grabbed eight rebounds and had two assists and two steals to lead UMF past Thomas.

Kennadi Grover scored 17 points and had five rebounds for the 4-7 winners (3-1 in the North Atlantic Conference) and Ayla Allen had 16 points and six rebounds. Meghan Smith contributed a game-high 10 rebounds and also dished out four assists and Holly Oliver had seven points and a game-high five assists.

Elizabeth Goodall’s 10 points and six rebounds and Lexi Merrifield’s 10 points and four rebounds paced 2-7 Thomas (2-2 NAC).
