VERONA ISLAND – Otis O. Hanscom Sr., 91, of Verona Island, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at a Bangor hospital. He was born July 11, 1922, in North Lee, to True and Estella (Cook) Hanscom.
Otis is a past president of the Verona Island Rod and Gun Club; he served as Fire Chief and Road Commissioner for Verona Island.
He is survived by daughter, Deborah Howes and husband, Larry; son, Otis “Podey” Hanscom Jr. and Lisa Bridges all of Verona Island; and daughter, Terri-Lynn Hanscom of Bucksport; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Bruce Sullivan of Bucksport, Terri Letteney Hanscom of Kenduskeag, nieces and nephews and many special friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Harriet Hanscom in 2010; son, Patrick Hanscom in 1986; his parents; and three brothers.
A private graveside service will be held in the spring. Arrangements are under the direction of Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 28 Elm St., Bucksport.
