HANCOCK, Maine — A local man accused of stealing two firearms and a laptop computer from a Hancock resident has been taken into custody in Boston after he tried to take a bus to New York.
Christopher Loucks, 28, was taken into custody Tuesday evening at the South Station Bus Terminal in Boston, according to the transit police in Massachusetts. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department had contacted officers with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority around 6:30 p.m., after sheriff’s deputies received a complaint that Loucks had stolen two guns and an iPad Air laptop before heading out of state.
Transit police officials indicated on their official blog that Loucks was in the process of catching a bus to New York. Transit police found him by the food court of the bus terminal, confirmed his identity and quickly disarmed him, they wrote. The handguns Loucks had with him were a Ruger 9 mm and a Taurus .22-caliber pistol, according to the transit police.
“Officers also seized a magazine containing 15 rounds of 9 mm ammunition,” transit police wrote in the blog post.
Loucks was expected to be arraigned Wednesday in Boston Municipal Court on firearms charges and one count of receiving stolen property, transit police indicated.
Additional information was unavailable Wednesday afternoon. Messages left with the MBTA Transit Police Department and with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department were not immediately returned.
Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy Travis Frost wrote in an incident summary report that the case is still under investigation.
