HARTLAND, Maine — A St. Albans woman who had been working as a nurse at a rehabilitation center is facing charges after her arrest for stealing patients’ medication, police said.
Annette Towle, 55, had been employed at the Sanfield Rehabilitation and Living Center as a practicing nurse for six years, according to Chief Deputy Dale Lancaster of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.
On Wednesday, staff at the center on Main Street reported to sheriff’s deputies that medications had been stolen and tampered with, Lancaster said.
The medication had apparently been pilfered from a controlled area within the living center and replaced with allergy medicine, mild blood pressure medicine and Tylenol.
The stolen medication included oxycodone and Vicodin pills.
Towle was arrested on Thursday and charged with stealing drugs, a Class C felony, Lancaster said. The investigation is ongoing and Towle could face additional charges.
