GRAND ISLE, Maine — A one vehicle accident damaged the town of Grand Isle’s only snowplow Sunday morning, officials reported.
Gary Campbell was driving the truck when it struck a large crevice on Corbin Road, according to the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office.
The truck spun 180 degrees and into the opposite lane, overturning and coming to a rest on its side. The truck’s sanding equipment dislodged and slid about 40 feet before coming to a stop.
Campbell, 52, was not injured, but the 2003 International truck sustained about $5,000 in damage.
Town officials were making other arrangements to have roads plowed while the truck is being repaired, according to the sheriff’s office.
Speed did not appear to be a factor in the accident, but it remains under investigation, the sheriff’s office reported.
