CORINTH, Maine — A Stetson man and former volunteer firefighter is facing charges after officials determined he set fire to a pickup truck last summer.

James Mitchell, 19, is accused of arson, aggravated criminal mischief and failing to report a fire, according to Chief Deputy Troy Morton of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.

Last June, sheriff’s deputies investigated a motor vehicle fire in a gravel pit in Corinth, according to Morton.

This week, Mitchell was indicted by a grand jury after deputies and the state fire marshal’s office determined he started the fire that destroyed a pickup truck.
