GRAY, Maine — A low-pressure system rapidly forming over southern New England likely will bring snow to southern portions of the state Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service.
The weather service has issued a winter storm watch for Oxford, Franklin, York, Cumberland, Kennebec, Androscoggin, Sagadahoc and Lincoln counties effective Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening.
Heavy snow is expected to start falling in those areas by Tuesday afternoon, with precipitation likely winding down around midnight.
The weather service is expecting 4 to 8 inches in the affected areas.
Tuesday’s predicted storm comes in the wake of a storm that dumped more than a foot of snow over most of the state late last week.
