BANGOR, Maine — An 18-year-old local man was arrested last week after an apparent assault on his girlfriend, police said.

Police had gone to Husson University on Feb. 12 after learning Andrew Sickenberger had assaulted a female student, Bangor police Sgt. Cathy Rumsey said.

The victim had reported the assault to campus security, who in turn notified Bangor police, the sergeant said. The victim identified Sickenberger as the suspect.

Officer Dustin Dow went to investigate and as a result Sickenberger was placed under arrest, Rumsey said.

He was charged with domestic violence assault, criminal restraint and domestic violence criminal threatening.
