BRUNSWICK, Maine — A 19-year-old man was arrested Wednesday morning after his pregnant girlfriend told police he punched her twice in the stomach and threw her down the stairs.

Luke Aronne of Harpswell was charged with domestic violence assault on Mill Street at about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to Deputy Chief Marc Hagan of the Brunswick Police Department.

“She alleges that he pushed her down the stairs and struck her twice in the stomach,” Hagan said.

A Brunswick rescue crew also responded, but Hagan said the woman showed no visible signs of injury and declined to be taken to the hospital.

When officers arrived, Aronne had already left the apartment, but police found him nearby on Cumberland Street and arrested him, Hagan said. He was released from the Brunswick police station on $1,000 unsecured bail and is scheduled to appear in West Bath District Court on March 18.
