CARIBOU and MARS HILL – Jacqueline L. (McClay) Beals, 87, ended her long journey on earth and went to be with the Lord Feb. 19, 2014, with her family by her side. She was born May 13, 1926, in Boston, the daughter of James and Alma (Boyd) McClay of Mars Hill.
Jackie loved her family and had many friends and enjoyed being with people. She graduated from ACI and was the first Miss Mars Hill. She resided in Fort Kent for many years employed at the Fort Kent Hotel and lived her last 13 years in Caribou.
She is survived by her sons, Rev. Jeffrey and Yvonne Beals of Madison, and Terry and Karen Beals of Kent, Wash.; three granddaughters, Jessica and Kris Johanson of Tacoma, Wash., Harmony and Sam Haynes of Anson, and Heather and Kris Matchett of Skowhegan; one grandson, Justin and Wina Beals of Federals Way, Wash.; six great-grandchildren; four brothers, Bill and Ardith McClay of Terryville, Conn., Vail and Anna McClay Southington, Conn., Richard and Dottie McClay of Mars Hill, and Sterling and Connie McClay of Sutton, Mass.; one sister, Mary and Wendall Field of Westfield; several nieces and nephews; and many friends from Caribou Gardens, Reno’s Family Resturant and Caribou Assembly of God Church. Special thanks to the Acute Care Unit at Cary Memorial Hospital for the comfort care provided in the last hours of her life.
Family and friends may call 1-2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at Duncan Funeral Home, 8 Main St., Mars Hill, where a celebration of life remembrance service will be held 2 p.m. with the Rev.
