AUBURN, Maine — A local man was arrested Friday morning and is facing a child pornography charge, police said.

Philip Jackson, 67, was taken into custody at 11 a.m. without incident, State Police spokesman Stephen McCausland said.

Detectives found hundreds of images of very young children on his computer, although McCausland said none are believed to be from Maine.

Jackson, a truck driver who lives near the Auburn Middle School, is accused of possession of sexually explicit material, McCausland said.

Jackson is being held at the Androscoggin County Jail on $5,000 bail.
