OLD TOWN, Maine — Officials have yet to determine the cause of a fire that damaged an apartment building on Chapman Street on Sunday evening.

Old Town Fire Chief Steve O’Malley said Tuesday that authorities have yet to interview the man who lived in the second-story apartment where the blaze broke out.

The man is currently in the hospital for an undisclosed reason unrelated to the fire, according to O’Malley.

The man was not home at the time of the fire.

The fire drew firefighters from four communities, Old Town, Orono, Bangor and Milford, to Chapman Street, and the second-story unit is unlivable, O’Malley said. A first-floor unit in the building was damaged by water.
