CAMDEN, Maine — A Washington woman who worked as a certified nursing assistant and hairdresser at Quarry Hill, a Camden retirement village, has been accused of stealing from two residents.
Linda Perkins, 58, was issued a summons for two counts of theft, according to Camden police Detective Curt Andrick.
Perkins is accused of stealing cash and gift cards from the residents’ apartments, he said.
The department was alerted to the alleged theft on Feb. 26. Andrick said Perkins allegedly made purchases online with the gift cards. He said that both Wal-Mart and J.C. Penney cooperated with the investigation into the use of the cards.
Andrick decried this type of crime because the victims are so vulnerable, many with poor memory.
Pen Bay Healthcare, which oversees Quarry Hill, issued a statement Thursday.
“The management at Quarry Hill take the safety and security of our residents very seriously. In doing so, we work closely with local law enforcement when necessary. Since this is a personnel matter, we cannot comment on the specifics at this time,” the statement reads.
