GARLAND, Maine — An autopsy conducted on a Dover-Foxcroft man found dead at a Campbell Road residence Wednesday determined he died from natural causes, state police said Thursday.

Initial reports had speculated Wednesday that Daniel R. Neal, 62, might have been killed by one of two adult dogs in the residence, according to state police spokesman Stephen McCausland.

The home is occupied by Neal’s daughter, and Neal had stayed at the house on Tuesday night, McCausland said.

Neal’s body was found by family members on Wednesday afternoon, the state police spokesman said.

There was also a litter of seven puppies inside the house, McCausland said.
