NOTTINGHAM, N.H. – Major Wesley Ernest Hallowell Jr. ANG, 40, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Mass. Ernie was born Feb. 5, 1974, in Portsmouth, N.H., to Wesley E. Sr. and Linda-Lou (Harris) Hallowell.
Ernie was a graduate of Skowhegan High School in Skowhegan. He received his bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Maine and received his master’s degree in International Business from Southern New Hampshire University. He had been an adjunct professor of business at Southern New Hampshire University. Ernie was currently a systems manager for Liberty Mutual in Portsmouth. He had previously worked for Fidelity Investments in Merrimack, N.H. Ernie joined the Air National Guard in March of 1992. He was the third generation of the Hallowells to serve in the Maine Air National Guard. He was currently an intelligence officer with the Otis Air National Guard Base in Massachusetts and had previously served at 101st Air Refueling Wing in Bangor. Ernie enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and hockey. He was an enthusiastic fan of the Chicago Bears, Chicago Blackhawks, and Cleveland Indians.
Survivors include, his wife, Amy (Clement) Hallowell of Nottingham, N.H.; his parents, Wesley and Lin Hallowell of Norridgewock; and his sister, Kristi Guillemette of Nashua, N.H., her husband, Scott, and son, Josh. He is also survived by his uncles, Charles Barron and Ross Hallowell; as well as his aunts, Gloria Shields and Debra Higgins; and many cousins.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at North Congregational Church, Market Square, Portsmouth, N.H. Friends invited. There will be no visiting hours. No flowers please.
