PORTLAND, Maine — A 74-year old local man remains in critical condition at a city hospital after he was struck by a vehicle over the weekend, police said Monday.

The injured man is Elliot Burton of Portland, according to Portland police Lt. James Sweatt.

Around 6:40 p.m. Saturday, Burton was hit by a car driven by Lindsay Lathorp, 26, of Falmouth, Sweatt said.

Burton was crossing Forest Avenue when the accident occurred, the lieutenant noted.

Lathorp was not injured in the crash, Sweatt said, and Burton remained at Maine Medical Center on Monday.

Speed or alcohol do not appear to be factors, according to police, and the accident remains under investigation.
