ROCKLAND, Maine — A Warren man will go to jail while his girlfriend can avoid incarceration after they pleaded guilty Tuesday to leaving a child home alone.
Robert D. Doak, 33, of Warren, was sentenced to 180 days in jail with all but 72 hours suspended for domestic violence assault against an 8-year-old child. He received a concurrent lesser sentence for endangering the welfare of a child. Doak will also be on probation for a year.
His then-girlfriend, Lexi Mank, 22, of Rockland, also pleaded guilty in Knox County Superior Court to child endangerment. The charge against her will be dismissed if she refrains from criminal behavior for the next year, under terms of a deferred disposition negotiated between the district attorney’s office and defense attorney Steven Peterson.
Justice Jeffrey Hjelm approved that agreement.
Assistant District Attorney Jeffrey Baroody said the endangering charge stems from Doak and his girlfriend leaving his 8-year-old child alone at his home for several hours.
