MILLINOCKET, Maine — A small earthquake was reported in Millinocket on Friday morning, officials said.

The earthquake, which measured at 1.1 on the Richter scale, was reported at approximately 2:52 a.m. Friday, according to Dr. John Ebel of the Weston Observatory.

Ebel said a 1.1 measuring is very rarely felt, unless somebody was standing right on top of the epicenter.

Small earthquakes in central portions of Maine tend to occur once every few to several years, he added.
